Sorry it`s taken me so long to post, we`ve all been so very busy. On the plus side, I have LOADS to talk about since my last entry!
Last week, as I was putting my hand into the gliders cage to adjust their water and food dishes, both Tank and Mocha ran up the sleeve of my hoodie and into my shirt. I had another tee beneath it (so they weren`t flush against my bare skin) but it tickled nevertheless. For almost an hour, they ran around between the tops, exploring; the occasional head peeking out from various openings on occasion to check things out. It was super funny! I loved it! Eventually, both Tank and Mocha curled up in a tiny, little ball on the small of my back - their sharp nails managing to cling to my shirt and keep them in place. They stayed like that for the better portion of an hour and half. I then put them in their pouch so they could get some real sleep!
We`ve also discovered the joys of bathroom and bedroom time!
After laying out about a hundred blankets in the bathroom, we let the gliders loose! They really seemed to enjoy the freedom - jumping from place to place. I do need to work on the nail-care however, as evident by the way they stuck to everything. It`s just so nerve-wracking to think I might clip too deep. In an effort to get on top of things, I bought a nail file insert for them tonight, that slips into their wodent wheel. I`ll keep you posted on how that goes.
Anyway, bathroom time was a success... but bedroom time was by far, more fun! We have decorative pillows stacked at the head and laid out blankets across the foot. Both Mocha and Tank seemed to appreciate this! They would springboard from the pillows and burrow under the sheets. Sassy (my fifteen year old cat) laid on the bed as they played. Imagine my surprise when Tank jumped right on top of her!!! Funny thing is, Sassy couldn`t have cared less. She rolled over and let him play... they even touched noses!!! It was super cute!
On another note, I may not have mentioned this in previous posts, but I was convinced that Tank was terrified of my mouth. Mocha lets me kiss her and put my face close to hers. Tank on the other hand, crabs (or used to) any time I would bring my lips anywhere near him. Perhaps he thought that I was going to eat him? It`s entirely possible. It worried me. I`m a very affectionate pet owner, and I kiss everything I keep. I wanted to give him similar treatment, but not at the cost of terrifying him. But take heart - all is well again!
At the beginning of the week, I had my face level with the bottom of their cage - watching them play. Strangely, Tank came over to see me. He was reluctant at first, but eventually, sniffed at my nose. As he pulled away, I delivered him a quick kiss, right on the end of his! He pulled back in surprise, with an expression that clearly said ' what was that?', then (after deciding I wasn`t going to make him a snack) he came forward and touched his tiny mouth to mine... and proceeded to climb all over my face! Needless to say, his fear of my mouth is over.
Now if only I could get these scratches on my cheeks healed!!! LOL
